The question before the equations

What does it take for a relation to stay itself?

A table can be measured in metres or centimetres. Its reported number changes; the table’s length and shape do not.

This is a familiar example of changed presentation. The broader LST question begins earlier: what makes a relation distinguishable, and what must a changed presentation preserve so that relation can be reconstructed?
